Iconoclast 03:40
Ascend the tower of kings, become a ghost off in the fog You’re built to feed on apathy, you think you know just who you are Burn the icon, go! Stand up and behold, melt away the gold, see what you’ve been sold. Beat down the voices screaming, a man of peace can’t spare the rod You crack the skulls and they bleed that they might see you as a god Burn the icon, go! Stand up and behold, melt away the gold, see what you’ve been sold. Theater of image, the curtain falls and you bow Burn the icon down! Tear down the walls that sustain the broken hope of this facade Burn the icon, go! Stand up and behold, melt away the gold, see what you’ve been sold

I’m running scared and ill-prepared, The eyes that glared, their burden shared Footsteps creeping, floorboards creaking Tearing apart at the seams, scraping claws of the hound I’m running scared It’s hard to see the harmony, what can it be that haunted me? Spectres sweeping watch me sleeping, open my ees in a sweat, see the walls crashing down. I’m running scared. I turned around a hovered above the ground, then woke up under water and almost drowned, and so I ran for hours, ran every day, I used up all my powers to get away, ‘cause I’m running scared

Smoke 03:03
Smoke, I breathe you in and know that you burn me I light a match and watch it burn Flick the filter and drop the ashes in my urn Cloudy venom, melting skin Used to losing, afraid to win You’re the start and the finish, my favorite sin, like Smoke, I breathe you in and know that you’ll burn my Throat, you taste so good but sometimes you make me Choke, I’m hooked on you, you’re in every word I wrote today Every note I play, smoke I tried the patch, I tried the pill Cold turkey, but living without your poison makes me ill Flames and mirrors, time is up Glass half empty, shattered cup You’re the start and the finish, you fill me up like Smoke, I breathe you in and know that you’ll burn my Throat, you taste so good but sometimes you make me Choke, I’m hooked on you, you’re in every word I wrote today Every note I play, smoke I am not alone if I am holding you in Strike a flame and watch me as I slowly begin You’ve got a pull I can not hide from and it’s starting to show I wish you wouldn’t pull on me, just let me go

Monk Mode 04:36
Lay in the darkness of the night Say what you think is wrong or right Stay in the brightness of the day Say only that which you wish to say

Blue Dream 03:55
Sittin’ by myself, ain’t got noone else Thoughts up on a shelf and I’m tryin’ to find ‘em Got noone to meet, noone here to greet Guess I’ll set my feet on tryin’ to find ‘em Well it seems to me we can all agree It’d be a better world if we were livin’ in a blue dream I was talkin’ to my brother, he’s got a different mother He goes by another kind of name See, we live on the same street but we ain’t got the same amount to eat, Can’t help sit and wonder who’s to blame So I guess I understand why he’d think I can See him as another man, but that’s not my game Why can’t we live in harmony? We got a whole lot more in common than it seems And with eyes to see we can all agree It’d be a better world if we were livin’ in a blue dream Won’t you listen to the sound and pass it back around? I think we finally found some common ground Why can’t we live in harmony? We got a whole lot more in common than it seems And with eyes to see when it’s you and me, together make us ‘we’ and that’s a solid team Well it seems to me we can all agree It’d be a better world if we were livin’ in a blue dream

Blister 02:50
I’ve got a blister on my fretting hand It’s almost more pain than I can stand But I gotta play because I’m in demand Rockin’ the house with my band, come on! I got a blister on my fingertip I need that hand to get a better grip Gotta hold on tight I’ll never let it slip Hook my IV up to a lava drip, well It doesn’t matter who you think you are A little pebble or a shooting star We put our pennies in a Mason jar To help us find out who we are I hope it don't leave a scar I got a blister and it’s gonna pop I’ll drain the fluid, each and every drop And clean the floor up with a broom and mop Never gonna beat me I won’t ever stop, well, t doesn’t matter who you think you are, a little pebble or a shooting star, we put our pennies in a Mason jar to help us find out who we are It doesn’t matter who you think you are A little pebble or a shooting star We put our pennies in a Mason jar To help us find out who we are I hope it don't leave a scar I had a callous when I woke today Looks like that blister finally went away So even if the effort doesn’t pay I’m gonna shut the fuck up and play, so come on

Cousin 05:29
When I was a little one just like everybody else I had a mother and father and a little home Then I got older, started looking all around Told my mother and father I gotta roam And oh, wouldn’t you know? Found a crew of brothers and a lifetime lover And oh, don’t you know, I found life out on the road When I was a little one, just like everybody else I had another family far away Yeah, I had a cousin, only saw him once a year Talking over turkey Thanksgiving day And oh, wouldn’t you know? He came from a law man But I came from a song man And oh, don’t you know We met one day on the road Lay aside your heavy load How’s your family, how’s you wife? Are you happy with your life? Can we get back some day? When I was a little one, just like everybody else I wondered what it’d be like when I was grown Now I see the rain come and the grey clouds moving in And the fruits of seeds that I have sown And oh, wouldn’t you know We’re a little older with a world on our shoulder And oh, don’t you know There’s still life out on the road

Well 04:51
I’m going down, down to the bottom of the well When will I get some water? Guess only time will tell I’m going down, down with a bucket and a rope When I reach the top I won’t waste a drop Gonna drink that water to my soul I’m climbing up, climbing up to the top Till I get enough water, you know that I can’t stop I’m going down, down with a bucket and a rope When I reach the top I won’t waste a drop Gonna drink that water to my soul.

about

Recorded during the summer of 2016 on reel-to-reel tape, "Filament" captures the sound of a band in a room together exploring the corners of their musical capabilities. Best listened to from beginning to end, the album is just that - an album. Not simply a collection of songs, "Filament" is a journey through the spirit of rock, both musically and lyrically.

There are so many people who have helped us realize the dream of playing our music to the world, and a few of them are listed here. Great many thanks go to Donald Moats of Habitat Noise Studios for the use of this excellent analog recording gear and his general easy-going nature in the studio; Ryan Koch of Rock 106.1 for his tireless support of not only our group but the entire arts and music community in the low country; Jake Schlosser for his incredible original depiction of the Cosmic Ninja Monk; Matthew Fitzgerald for his photography, both included in this album and on the many other occasions he’s shot the band; Simon Ross of Planetary Projections for the countless times he’s helped the band, too numerous to name; Southbound Brewing Company for hosting the raddest of album release parties; the various Savannah-based arts and music publications who’ve featured our progression over the last 3 years; all the muscians and artists who make the Savannah creative community thrive. Honorable mention to those who’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty to support the band - Amy Horton, Brandy Kennedy Koch, Jeff Neugebauer, Xulu Jones, Tokalos, the old Brooklyn and CT crews, Art March Savannah, Rock 106.1, et al.

As always we mention former members of the band Jonathan Connors, Alec Giggi, Chris Tilley, Andrew Brunetti and the fallen captain, Brenner Eugenides.

This album is dedicated to seekers of groovy truth.
